Chris Hickman

Chris Hickman has over 20 years of software development experience, working at large companies, like Microsoft, as well as small ones, such as early stage startups. A technical leader with a proven track record of shipping world-class products & services, Chris has repeatedly built teams from the ground up, with strong culture and excellent retention.

Chris is a recognized expert in the technology industry. He has served as a Subject Matter Expert for AWS, and is a contributing author with O'Reilly publications. He has been awarded 6 patents for his work in highly scalable data systems. Chris was also the co-host of Mobycast, a long running weekly podcast that dives deep on topics related to building cloud-native software.

An entrepreneur, Chris has founded two companies, one with $24M in VC, the other bootstrapped with a $75,000 dollar SBA loan. Now he is building Growl, his third startup, with the mission of bringing innovative new software services to the podcasting industry.

When not designing distributed systems or deploying code to the cloud, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, cycling and learning to speak Italian.
